Bowling Alley Pinup Girl - Boudoir Louisville

There is a great vintage bowling alley located a few blocks from my house. Vernon Lanes.
I've been to this place a few times and always thought it would be a great setting to shoot pinups in. I finally decided to set something up. Now I needed a pinup girl! It just so happens that I bumped into the Lovely Brittany Jean while at a Rev. Horton Heat concert. She was ready to shoot and had outfits already in mind!
Gotta love a prepared pinup girl!
She dropped by the Boudoir Louisville studio for hair and makeup, then we all went over to the bowling alley.
I decided to go with my brand spanking new Nikon SB910 flashes, 3 of them. They gave off more than enough light to fill the bowling alley. I also used my new Chimera collapsable beauty dish! This thing is awesome! Triggered the whole thing with the Pocket Wizard TTL system.
OK, enough with the nerd talk!
We had around an hour to shoot, so I started setting up lights while Brittany Jean changed into her 1st of 3 outfits. We cranked this shoot out. 3 outfits, 5 different settings. Video as well as stills in an hour!

Veronica's boudoir photo shoot with Boudoir Louisville

We love Veronica! She booked a boudoir and pinup photo shoot with us as a surprise gift for her Hubby! Well, that's what she said, I think it was just as much for her as it was for him. We get a lot of that though. Girls will book a session as a gift for their special someone, but it ends up being an awesome, empowering experience for them as well.
Veronica was fantastic to shoot with. We shot a bunch of classic boudoir images and then moved into the pinup studio to snap some great, retro pinup shots. You'l have to check back in a week or so if you want to see some of Veronica's pinup shots...

ATTN: PINUP GIRLS! Want to shoot with us in a ghost town outside of Las Vegas?!

The Boudoir Louisville team is hitting the road! We will be in Las Vegas for the first week of April shooting pinups and boudoir. Going to the Viva Las Vegas pinup convention? We would love to shoot with you!
Over the past few months, we managed to sell out all of our photo shoot time slots. Heck, we even added an extra day!
Today I found out that we have a cancellation for our Pinup Girl Ghost Town photo shoot. Good news for you!

Here are the details:


Sunday April 8th 10am
This shoot is open to only 3 girls. 2 girls booked, ONLY ONE SPOT LEFT!
$750 per girl

WHAT TO EXPECT:
All girls that book this package are to arrive at our hotel suite on the strip for hair and makeup.
After you are all snazzy, we will hop in a production van and take a 45 minute drive to one of the most fantastic locations I have ever seen! There are at least 9 different "sets" at this location.
You will be with us for 6-ish hours including hair and makeup and travel time.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

As many outfits as time will allow

FULL hair and makeup

My assistant Britt will be on set the whole shoot to coach you on posing, wardrobe prep etc...

40-ish fully edited and retouched pinup photos! YEAH, 40!

All shoots will be edited within one week, many will be sooner

Transportation to and from shoot location

This shoot will be featured in Retro Lovely Magazine

An extensive "Behind the Scenes" video will also be shot during this shoot

Go-Go Amy's How to be a Pinup Girl Workshop is coming back to Boudoir Louisville May 26th!

That's right kids! The lovely Go Go Amy from The Pretty Things Peepshow will be dropping by the Boudoir Louisville studio May 26th to teach her world famous Pinup Girl Class!

Have you ever dreamed of being a vintage pin up girl? Well now you can transform into the vintage vixen you've always wanted to be. World famous pin up model and burlesque dancer, go-go Amy has teamed up with Boudoir Louisville to bring her fabulous pin up modeling class to Louisville where you will learn to release your inner bombshell. If you are a seasoned model or a housewife who’s never worn make up before this class is for you! We strive to keep this a very body positive experience, insisting that true glamor has no height, size or age requirement. All you need is a positive attitude and an open mind. In the class you will learn the history of pin up, posing tips and get a hair and make up demonstration. Then you will be able to test what you have learned with a fabulous photo shoot. You will leave with a book that includes all the details about the information you have learned in the class complete with a resource guide to help you figure out your next steps in your life as a pin up model.

Bring a few of your favorite pinup or Old Hollywood style bombshell outfits along with you. As soon as you are finished with hair and makeup, we begin snapping GORGEOUS pinup photos of YOU!

Each girl will receive digital copies of her pinup girl photos within a few days of the workshop.

We require a $125 retainer as well as a signed policy page to reserve your spot.
You will learn how to transform yourself into a bombshell pinup girl.
After you have transformed yourself into the perfect pinup girl, you will then have your very own pinup girl photo shoot at the Boudoir Louisville studio. Your shoot will include digital copies of the photos that you can post, print etc...

We get asked all the time about what outfits to bring to our studio. We can turn just about anything into a great pinup outfit. Our client had a great pencil skirt and a white button down. Very classic pieces of wardrobe that every girl should have! Slap a pair of sexy red high heels on and give her the perfect pinup hair and makeup and you're ready to go!

The Pretty Things Peepshow needs your help!

The cast of The Pretty Things Peepshow dropped by the Boudoir Louisville studio while in town for a show a few weeks ago to shoot some new promo photos. During our shoot, Go Go Amy explained their need for a new tour bus. I heard some interesting horror stories about their means of travel!


For those of you who don't know about The Pretty Things Peepshow,  they are a traveling Vaudeville show. They have been touring the nation for 4 years bringing back a piece of American Theater history and a bit of excitement and glamour in each and every one of their 400+ shows. They currently travel in a 1995 ford Shasta RV that they bought 4 years ago when they started the show. They modified it to be more like a tour bus. The redistribution of weight from the modifications has caused them a world of trouble and repairs, and with all the miles they put on it in the last 4 years it’s becoming unsafe to travel in it for much longer. It’s time to upgrade because right now the little hunk of junk that they call home is basically just held together with duck tape and hope. The show has also grown tremendously since they first got together and they now need to take a larger cast and crew. Their performers acts have gotten so big that they are barely able to fit all of their props, costumes and musical instruments in the vehicle they have now. RV’s are “recreational vehicles” and are not meant to be driven the way they use theirs, which is why they want to buy an actual tour bus. 


ANYWAY, they started a project via Kickstarted to raise funds for a new bus! It would mean the world to us all if you clicked and donated. It doesn't have to be a crazy amount. If everyone reading this donated $1-$5, they would meet their goal in no time!

A few shot from our pinup photography workshop

Yesterday, we taught another one of our one-on-one pinup girl photography workshop! This was our "How to shoot on location Pinups" workshop. We only offer one-on-one workshops. We believe this is the best hands-on environment for learning boudoir and pinup photography.
We had so much fun! Started off shooting a picnic scene at a local park before moving into a snazzy hotrod garage. Here are a few snaps from the day!

Heather Holliday - Sword Swallowing Pinup Girl visits Boudoir Louisville!

How's THAT for an attention grabbing blog post title?
When we first found out that Heather Holiday from the Pretty Things Peepshow was going to be dropping by the Boudoir Louisville studio for a photo shoot, I instantly began thinking about the shots we would get of her doing what she does, sword swallowing! When I showed the photos to a few friends, they asked me if I had a trick or cut down sword I was using as a studio prop. At the bottom of this post, I have included a snazzy video. Proof enough for ya?!


Sideshow Sweetheart and a Sword Swallowing Sensation!


Born and raised in new york city, Heather Holliday proudly performs sideshows toughest and most dangerous stunts. This dainty delectable dame, only 5'3'' and weighing 110lbs, stuns audiences as she takes over 2 feet of solid steel from the tip of her lips right down to the bottom of her belly with unbelievable grace.  Swallowing swords might be her forte, but Heather has also mastered the carnival arts of fire eating/breathing, glass eating, pain proof woman/bed of nails, whip cracking, and more!  Her demeanor on stage leaves the women in awe and the men in love, as she can perform stunts that might make you sick to your stomach, but keep you drooling for more. Heather has performed with The Coney Island Circus Sideshow since 2004, has traveled with the world famous Brothers Grim Sideshow, and currently tours with The Pretty Things Peepshow.  She has made appearances on stages and television shows across the nation, such as Miami Ink, Girls Next Door, The Travel Channel, Telemundo, and has cameo appearances in music videos for 50 Cent, and Rick Ross.

I shot everything seen in this post with a very basic setup. I used an Alien Bee 800 with a 30 degree grid directly behind Heather. This acted as a hair light as well as lighting the red stage curtain. It provided a great falloff as it lit the background as well. For my main, I used another Alien Bee 800 with a 36" softbox. That's it, nice and simple!

Heather is a complete joy to shoot with. If you ever notice the Pretty Things Peepshow rolling through YOUR town, grab a gang of your closest friends a check them out. It is a show that is not to be missed!
